When seen from a distance the houses in the village looked like a bunch of flowers and since 1932 it bears the name Kiten (which means floral and pretty, colorful). 
Kiten began to grow fast as a resort village in the sixties of the 20th century due to its excellent tourism resources. In the sixties, seventies and eghties big industrial companies,  government departments and organisations built their own recreation and holiday bases on the territory of Kiten. The main plant sorts that grow in the resort and make it so attractive are the different kinds of oak like nutgall, durmast, bitter oak, and the artificial plantations of white and black pine-trees. The cornel-tree is found too, mainly around the bay Karaagach there are territories afforestated with poplars. The mouth of Kitenska river is overgrown with reed, osier and on the sheer cliff to the South beach you may see virgin’s bower.
