Savnik
Šavnik is the centre of Šavnik municipality (population 2,947) and unofficial centre of Drobnjaci region, home of the Drobnjaci tribe.Šavnik municipality has the smallest population of all Montenegrin municipalities. The town of Šavnik is also the capital of municipality in Montenegro with fewest residents.Šavnik is situated on a regional road halfway between Nikšić and Žabljak, and it is its only link with the rest of Montenegro.SAVNIK - It is a town in the valley of Drobnjaci, at the mouth of the rivers Bukovica, Bijela and Savnik. It covers the space of 533 square kilometers. In this region there are Illyrian, Celtic and Greek traces of life. Two well known Montenegrin tribes, Drobnjaci and Uskoci, were established in this region. Development of this region was neglected both in Montenegro and in the kingdom of Yugoslavia, as well as in the post war period. However, intelligent people of this region started their education in other areas and that way, this region gave some well known scientists and cultural workers. In a wider region of Savnik there are monasteries Bijela and Podmalinsko. Savnik has an elementary and a high school, as well as a students` dormitory.
