Tivat
It is situated between Vrmac peninsula, field of Tivat and the mountain of Krtola. Tivat has the most favourable natural conditions for city development at the coast of Montenegro. It covers the space of 46 square kilometers with about 13 000 inhabitants. Thanks to its geographical position, climate and the sea, people have been living here from the oldest periods, leaving the traces of their culture. Tivat has several beautiful beaches, offering favourable accommodation in the following hotels: “Mimoza”, “Plavi Horizonti”, “Kamelija” and other state or private facilities.Around Tivat, and especially around the island of St Marko, the sea is smooth and appropriate for skiing and other water sports. It is appropriate for both winter and summer holidays, thanks to clean air, moderate climate and rich vegetation. Among sacral monuments, the most famous one is the monastery of St Archangel Mihailo on Prevlaka, more famous as “Ostrvo cvijeca” (The flower island). There is also a famous palace – a medieval summer house “Buca”, Situated in the town centre. Apart from tourism, ship maintenance in Tivat is of a great significance for economic development of Tivat.Tivat is the only coastal town in Montenegro, having its own airport.
